TO THE PATIENT READER:

First, there are many more sections to come. Sections 9 and 10 have been
removed since they are very incomplete. Many more problems, examples and
projects are to be included. There is an entry in the index for "bull"
other references should be given, including pp. 1-3. The sections on AMBIT/G
and the Coutour Model are grossly insufficient. These are topics best
handled by hand-waving at the blackboard but details will appear soon
for these sections. However a basic AMBIT/G paper is attached at end of notes
until something better  is generated.

These notes are primarily for the uninitiated and unwashed;
they were a one-term undergraduate course at UCLA three years ago.
Because of this,
the cognoscenti will find more detail than necessary. The notes will attempt to
be self contained, so if great gaps exist, please complain. Complain also
about lies, inaccuracies, omissions, bad puns and speling.

Speaking of complaints, the back-biting text program called PUB occasionally
will build a linked-list of your sentences, removing a piece of text
and carefully depositing it a few pages later, taking %2that%* text and ....
This begins on page 136; it can be fixed, but it takes approximately 35 min.
to generate the notes and I didn't feel like doing it over, and over, and over ...
